Additional confirmations have been provided in regards to the native resolutions of the upcoming PS4 and Xbox One video game, “Call of Duty: Ghosts.” According to a report by Kotaku on Oct. 29, several “development sources” have confirmed that the first-person shooter will be running natively at 1080p on the PS4 and 720p on the Xbox One. Along with the recent proclamation on the disparity in “Battlefield 4,” it appears that Sony has the edge over Microsoft in the graphics department.
A spokesperson from Microsoft did not seem overly concern with the differences, however. He stated that fans have been providing “overwhelmingly positive” feedback when playing Xbox One games, encouraging skeptics to try out the next-generation system before making any judgment. The spokesperson went on to somewhat dismiss the resolution controversy by saying that the new console is about more than visual fidelity. You can check out some screenshots of the newest “Call of Duty” release in the slideshow near the top of this article and his comments below (courtesy of Kotaku):
Thousands of fans are currently playing Xbox One games via our Area One tour and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. With launch a couple weeks away we encourage media and fans alike to play final games and judge for themselves. We’ve created a new generation system that offers amazing games that will run at 1080p either natively or upscaled. It is up to individual developers to determine what resolution best fits their design goals at launch. There is no single metric that can accurately predict how games will look and perform and it’s much more than just pixel count. It’s about the entire experience including game fidelity, how you access your games, your friends, the multiplayer experience and other new generation experiences only available on Xbox One. We believe Xbox One will be the premier place to play the new generation of games.
The first game comparisons for both upcoming next-generation systems suggested that the PS4 has a big advantage over the Xbox One when it comes to graphical prowess. “Call of Duty: Ghosts” is set to come out for Sony’s console first on Nov. 15. The video game will also be available at the launch on the Xbox One on Nov. 22. You can order the products from Amazon in the following links: “Call of Duty: Ghosts,” PS4 and Xbox One
