The small glimmer of hope for Halo lovers everywhere longing for a full-length film of the hit Xbox exclusive series has been snuffed out by Microsoft, according to a report today from GameSpot.

A conversation on Twitter, and subsequently a report from a film and TV production database website, pointed toward Microsoft finally pulling the trigger on an “untitled” Halo movie. You can read that full Examiner report by clicking here.

However, a Microsoft representative said today that they have no current plans to turn the Halo IP into a movie.

“As we've previously stated, we have no plans for a Halo motion picture at this time,” the Microsoft representative said.

The project was rumored to have Alien and Blade Runner director Ridley Scott on board, along with Prison Break and Zero Hour writer Paul Scheuring.

Microsoft, however does have plans to give the world a dose of live-action Halo with its television series produced by Steven Spielberg, which Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer called last week a strong strategic move.
