Albert Penello tried to calm the circus surrounding the upcoming launch the Xbox One, saying that behind the scenes of the next-gen console’s release isn’t as interesting as people are making it out to be, according to a report today from MCV-UK.
Posting to Reddit, Penello said rumors about the Xbox One about things like development issues or underperforming for developers are just the mistaken after affects of trying to feed the need for information about the next-gen console.
“There is a really bizarre phenomenon going on right now where the frenzy for news, drama, and behind-the-scenes dealings is clouding logic and reason,” Penello said.
Penello said Microsoft and most likely Sony are working long, hard hours with the launch of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 coming within the next month, but that things aren’t nearly as hectic or interesting as people might want to believe.
“I know people are excited. I’m sorry but things are nowhere near as dire or dramatic or exciting as everyone would like to believe,” Penello said. “That’s why I’m not commenting on every single random rumor that comes along, because everything I see is so drastically overblown versus reality.”
In another Reddit post, an anonymous Xbox One developer said the Internet is responsible for the misinformed rumors about the next-gen console because Microsoft is being treated with “constant surveillance by the media/paparazzi.”
“Every detail, relevant or not, could be taken, fed, digested through social media, and emerge as a complete new beast over the span of a day,” the poster said, who added that a console launch is a large, complex initiative.
