Harrision, talking at the Eurogamer Expo, said Xbox One users could record “as much or as little as they wanted,” which seemed to be contrary to what Microsoft had said previously.
However, Microsoft cleared up the matter today, saying that they could confirm the Xbox One recording buffer in-game DVR is five minutes.
“We are committed to giving gamers the ability to produce high quality videos easily and quickly,” the representative told GameInformer, adding the five minutes is what Microsoft’s optimal timeframe for the Xbox One.
This isn’t the only Xbox One game capture report to come out this week, as Microsoft’s director of product management and planning Albert Penello said the console’s users will have to wait until next year before they can upload videos to YouTube or Facebook.
Penello did say, however, that captured game footage can be uploaded directly to Xbox Live as soon as the console launches on Nov. 22.
