In a move that should surprise next to no one familiar with the videogame industry, Microsoft has confirmed that last year’s blockbuster title, “Halo 4,” will be receiving a Game of the Year retail edition. The title is set to release sometime in October and according to a screenshot furnished to IGN should retail for $49.99 as opposed to the traditional $59.99 price point.
A spokesperson from Microsoft confirmed that the GOTY edition will ship with the full Halo 4 game along with the bonuses and digital content that was previously only available for gamers who preordered the title or purchased the limited edition. The game will also ship with Spartan Ops Season 1, a map pass good for the War Games DLC content as well as the Halo 4 champions bundle. The rep also mentions they will have more details to share regarding the title during the live stream of the Halo Global Championship Finals occurring this Sunday, September 1, 2013.
Halo 4 marked the beginning of the ‘Forerunner trilogy’ and featured a number of new weapons and enemies as well as stunning graphics when it released last year. The multiplayer divided fans as they removed some of the more popular game modes such as Firefight and made gameplay tweaks and changes that upset some of the series longtime fans who cried the series was treading too closely in the “Call of Duty” waters.
