Microsoft is still riding high from the launch of Kinect and have just annoucned that they've sold 10 million units of their motion sensing camera for the Xbox 360.
The news comes from Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson who made the announcement via Twitter by saying, "News: 10 Million Kinect Sensors and more than 10 Million Kinect Games Sold to Date."
This makes the Kinect the fastest selling consumer electronics device according to Guiness.
Gaz Deaves, Editor of Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer’s Edition, said: “The sales figures here speak for themselves. We can confirm that no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector.”
It should be noted that Microsoft doesn't track units sold to customers from retail. Instead, they track units sold to retailers.
While the number of games released for Kinect have slowed since its launch last November, Microsoft has stated that there will be more games incoming. Child of Eden, Michael Jackson: The Experience, The Gunstringer, Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster, Kung Fu Panda 2 and Carnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Do are some of the games listed to be releasing soon.
