When Micky Dolenz performs his solo show May 2 at the famed Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Ill., the show will have a new feature, Dolenz announced April 22. The show will feature a Q&A session with the entire audience following the show.
The idea is inspired in part by a lengthy Q&A that Dolenz participated in during last month’s Monkee Convention event in New Jersey. According to Dolenz, that event was received extremely well so he decided to do it again as as a way to say thank you to all the fans.
“It was a terrific event at the Monkee Con as the Q&A session covered questions about my whole career; from the TV show of course, to my most recent solo album 'Remember' and the 'Live At B. B. King’s' recording,” he said. “Andrew Sandoval from Rhino moderated it and did just an exemplary job.”
“I’ve done several shows with Micky previously, but adding this Q&A was a brilliant masterstroke,” said promoter Ron Onesti. “His stories and anecdotes about the songs and the different personalities he’s come into contact with all are truly special. It definitely gives the audience a peak behind-the-curtain."
Dolenz PR representative David Salidor says the Q&A could become a regular addition to his shows. "Micky really enjoyed it and when you think about it, it is a perfect ending to a great night of music and memories."
Besides his solo shows, Dolenz will go on tour with Monkees Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith for a series of U.S. shows starting May 22 in Hampton Beach, N.H. The tour will also feature other shows in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri and Ohio.
After the Monkees tour, he will be doing a show with Peter Noone on June 28 in Grand Ronde, Ore., then playing other solo shows in July and August in New Jersey, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.
