Micky Dolenz keeps Monkees legacy alive at Epcot: Video talks about audition

For years, Davy Jones was one of the most popular acts at the Flower Power concert series at the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. When, a tragic turn of events in early 2012 threatened to destroy that trend when Jones unexpectedly died of a heart attack.

Fortunately, fellow Monkee Micky Dolenz stepped in to honor his friend's memory and ensure that Monkees music would still play at the festival. He returned this year to open the 2013 concert series, and he also took some time out to talk to the media.

Click the video toward the bottom of this article for my one-on-one chat with Dolenz about the early days of the show and how he became one of the chosen four. He also talks about the band's enduring fame and their huge resurgence in popularity in the 1980s, thanks to MTV reruns.

You can also see Dolenz's question and answer session with the media by going to this article.

Even though it's a year later, Davy Jones isn't forgotten. Last year, Dolenz performed "Daydream Believer" at Walt Disney World in honor of his friend. This year, he admitted that he can't sing the song himself anymore before it was Davy's song, and he had a fan join him to sing it. Check out the touching performance by going on to this video.
