Watching the Live performance of Sir Mick Jagger on the 2011 Grammy Awards Show, one is reminded of the greatness of the classic rock and roll. Tonight, Mick Jagger crossed the boundaries of generations and contrary to what some have said, did it very well. Mick Jagger's boundless enthusiasm and energy puts many younger artists to shame. All in all the man can move the hips better than others half his age. The showmanship is incredible with the ability to get the crowd interactive.
In his first ever Grammy performance which was a tribute to Solomon Burker, Mick gave a show that was well received. Jagger was cheered and clapped for wildly. Video pans of the crowd show women dancing, men smiling and people joining in. The cheering and clapping at the end was just as enthusiastic as on other performances earlier in the evening.
Jagger has kept his thin physique and unique voice. In the video you will see Will Smith was having a blast. In the front there is a lot of interaction. Kids were smiling and clapping.
A viewer in our viewing room noted, "The crowd is going nuts! He's still go it!"
Thank goodness, the Los Angeles Times blog agreed -
As for Mick Jagger paying tribute to Solomon Burke, there was nothing not to like in his take on "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love." Jagger was raised on this sort of bluesey-soul, and he brought the crowd to his feet like few others. Personally, I would have liked to have seen him dig a little deeper and go beyond the big hit that's been covered by dozens, and give a performance that really would inspire people to check out Burke.
