Michigan State mascot Sparty photobombs ESPN reporter during rout of Wolverines

It would appear that it wasn't just the Michigan State players that took the opportunity to celebrate MSU's win over arch-rival Michigan on Tuesday night.

ESPN reporter, Samantha Ponder, who married Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder earlier in the week, was broadcasting live courtside during the Spartans' 75-52 blowout when she got quite an unexpected surprise from a very familiar face in East Lansing.

MSU mascot, "Sparty", ran up from behind Ponder while on camera, unbeknownst to her, and quickly flexed his stuffed "muscles" in a terrific photobombing effort (click here to see an animated picture of the photobombing).

Ponder, who very-much resembles former ESPN sideline reporter, Erin Andrews, was unaware of the flagrant photobomb while it was occurring, but odds are she wouldn't have minded the surprise appearance from one of the NCAA's top mascots.

Sparty has been voted the most-recognizable mascot in all of college sports and remains a symbol of all that is the essence of Michigan State. Though he wasn't the star of the night on Tuesday (that, rather, would likely be MSU senior captain Derrick Nix or freshman Gary Harris), Sparty is no stranger to sharing the spotlight with his "fellow Spartans".

All-in-all, it was good to see the Breslin so alive and full of energy. Certain nights are not forgotten that easily and Michigan State's tromp over Michigan isn't likely to be forgotten by either side anytime soon...

Sparty photobomb or no Sparty photobomb.
