The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs has grants of $2.1 million to distribute in fiscal year 2012 to more than 200 organizations statewide. The funds received by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs are given to the organization by the state general fund and the federal National Endowment of the Arts. The amount received by the MCACA is less than last year, but three Macomb County organizations will receive a total of $53,000.
The Anton Art Center in Mount Clemens will receive the most of the funds, - $32,000 - divided into three allocations. The funds will be redistributed by the Art Center as part of the Council’s regional re-granting mini-grant program and for operational and projects support.
Macomb Community College will receive $7,500 and the Warren Symphony was awarded $6,000 in operational and projects support money.
Additional awards will be made to Michigan organizations to be used other programs. The Detroit Recreation Department will get $39,200 to be distributed to other arts and culture programs. The Michigan Youth Arts Association, under the service to the field category will receive 80,000. Oakland County in Pontiac will get $25,200 to redistribute.

The MCACA operates under the guise of the Michigan Economic Development Corp.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation is a public-private partnership serving as the state's marketing arm and lead agency for business, talent and jobs. tourism, film and digital incentives, arts and cultural grants, and overall economic growth. MEDC offers a number of business assistance services and capital programs for business attraction and acceleration, economic gardening, entrepreneurship, strategic partnerships, talent enhancement and urban and community development. MEDC, founded in 1999, also developed and manages the state's popular Pure Michigan brand.
More than half of the money, $1.3 million, was awarded under operations and project support. The recipient organizations receiving funds include:

- College for Creative Studies - $20,000
- Detroit Symphony Orchestra in Detroit - $20,000
- Jefferson East Inc. in Detroit - $7,500
- Michigan Opera Theatre - $15,000
- Detroit Performing Artists - $4,500
- PuppetART/Detroit Puppet Theater - $6,000.
- Grosse Pointe, Rackham Symphony Choir - $6,000
- Digital Arts Film Royal Oak - $6,000
- Water Works Theatre Co. Inc. - $4,500
- Oakland University Art Gallery - $7,500
- Eisenhower Dance Ensemble in Southfield - $7,500
- Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester - $8,000
