Michigan Boxer Club specialty, October 1, 2010: Results and photos

On October 1, 2010, the Michigan Boxer Club held its fall specialty and sweepstakes show at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. The weather was significantly cooler than normal, with a chilly wind blowing. Fortunately, the sun was shining, which warmed things up a bit.

Sweepstakes judging began at 10:00 a.m. with breeder-judge Bridget Brown of Raineylane Boxers. Best Puppy in Sweepstakes was awarded to RoDon's The Real Thing from the 9 to 12 month puppy bitch class, breeder-owner-handled by Roger George. Best Junior in Sweepstakes went to the dog, Springbrook's Casanova Cowboy, bred, owned and handled by Sherry Canciamille. Cowboy went on to win Grand Sweepstakes.

Judging for the regular specialty classes started at 11:00 a.m. The originally scheduled judge, Francine Schwartz, was unable to attend the show due to a last-minute situation, so Mary Anne Brocious of Qubic Old English Sheepdogs graciously stepped in to take over the assignment. Winners Dog was awarded to the Open Fawn class winner, Cinnamon Just In Time, a deep red, plain fawn dog handled by Ashley Wynieski. ("Justin" was awarded Winners Dog the next day at Monroe Kennel Club to finish his championship.) Reserve Winners Dog was also from the Open Fawn class, Mora Topline's Main Event, handled by Stan Flowers, DHG. Bitch judging then commenced, with Epitome's Top Grain taking Winners Bitch from the 12 to 18 month class, handled by Amy Bieri. Reserve Winners Bitch was awarded to Chessel's N Happy Tail's Summer Lovin', also handled by Amy Bieri from the Open Fawn class.

Veteran judging followed Winners Bitch, with each Boxer taking a turn around the ring to applause from the crowd. The Veteran Dog class winner was Ch GC's N Jazz Know When To Hold 'Em, owner-handled by Cindy Yaeger. The Veteran Bitch class winner was Am/Can Ch Just-A-Wyn's 24K Gold, breeder-owner-handled by Ashley Wynieski.

Following Veterans, seven specials competed for Best of Breed, along with the Winners Dog, Winners Bitch and Veteran class winners. The nod went to Am/Can Grand Ch Just-A-Wyn Doing Time at Heart Acres, breeder-owner-handled by Ashley Wynieski. (Keeping it in the family, "Rolex" is a half-brother to the Veteran Dog.) Best of Winners was awarded to the dog, Cinnamon Just In Time, and Best of Opposite Sex went to Ch Boca's Royal Palms Splish Splash, breeder-owner-handled by Joanna Dorfman (and half-sister to the Best of Winners). Select Dog was awarded to the Veteran, Ch GC's N Jazz Know When To Hold 'Em, and Select Bitch went to Ch Jokar's Blonde Ambition, owner-handled by Amy Bieri.

The club also conducted a raffle for a variety of prizes, the last of which was 50% of the raffle ticket sales. The remaining proceeds will be part of the Club's charitable giving fund. The next Michigan Boxer Club show will be Friday, July 8, 2011, again at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. The Ann Arbor Kennel Club shows will follow on Saturday and Sunday at the same site.
