The Townsend Hotel, located in Birmingham, Michigan was the venue for the first annual Michigan All Star Gala. With impacting Detroit’s youth in mind, Compass Management united the area’s top businessman and women in support for Gleaner’s Food Bank, Children’s Hospital Foundation of Michigan and Detroit PAL This star studded event was hosted by Detroit’s own Joe Dumars who came accompanied by his lovely wife and children. N’damukong Suh (Detroit Lions), Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons), Draymond Green (Golden State Warriors) and Jimmy Smith (Baltimore Ravens) were a few of the other celebrities showing their support for the children of Detroit. As you entered the lobby to the Townsend you were able to enjoy paintings from students of The Conservatory of Contemporary Studies. Tara Tapson created the painting titled the Mercury Dime and Lanterns was created by Marnie Fender, both beautiful and awe inspiring paintings. Musical entertainment was provided by Ben Sharkey and his band and DJ Tom T. This soulful singer provided personal renditions of some of Motown’s greatest hits and some popular music for the younger crowd. With so much going on to support such a worthy cause you have no choice but to have hope for Detroit’s youth.
