Michigan AG to assist patients of defunct Allcare Dental

The Michigan Office of the Attorney General is forming a multi-state task force to assist consumers affected by the sudden closure of the Allcare Dental chain, Attorney General Bill Schuette today announced.

On Monday, Jan. 3, 2010, all Allcare Dental offices in fifteen states closed their doors. Allcare Dental operated Detroit-area offices in Ann Arbor, Auburn Hills, Clinton Township, Livonia, Roseville and Taylor, as well as several in other areas of Michigan. An announcement regarding the company's sudden closure was posted for patients at http://www.allcareinfo.com/.

“Our first priority is to ensure Michigan Allcare Dental patients who were left high and dry either receive refunds or the dental care they purchased,” said Schuette.  “I encourage affected patients to file a complaint with our Consumer Protection Division for assistance.”

The multi-state task force will coordinate attorneys general efforts through mediation of consumer complaints with Allcare Dental and third-party financing companies regarding dental services, preservation and protection of--and patient access to--dental records, review of Allcare Dental's business practices, and communication and cooperation with state dental licensing boards.

Affected Allcare Dental patients may file complaints with the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division online at www.michigan.gov/ag or by calling 877-765-8388.
