Hollywood couple Michelle Williams and Jason Segel have split after a year-long relationship. People magazine reported on Wednesday, Feb.27 that the 33-year-old "How I Met Your Mother" star Jason Segel, and the "Oz the Great and Powerful" star Michelle Williams sadly ended their relationship a few weeks ago.
Segel and Williams had been attempting to carry on a long distance relationship for sometime, and it has been reported that the stress has proven to be too much for the to handle. Heath Ledger's former girlfriend and daughter Matilda's mother Michelle Williams resides in New York, while "HIMYM" star Jason Segel is residing in Los Angeles.
Sources close to the couple stated that the distance was the primary reason behind the couple's split.
It was previously reported last fall that Segel had been stepping in as a father figure to William's daughter Matilda. The couple's breakup "was mutual," the insider stated to Us Weekly. "It's a sad moment. They respect each other."
Michelle Williams' next film project " Suite Francaise" as Lucille Angellier is scheduled to begin filming later this spring, and Jason Segel can currently be seen as Marshall Eriksoen on "How I Met Your Mother" on Monday nights at 8 p.m.
Reps for the actors have not commented.
