According to a Sept. 4 post from MMA Explosion, former Bellator MMA star Michelle Ould doesn't appreciate people who judge her for doing whatever she has to do to put food on the table for her two children.
Whether by cage-fighting or modeling, Ould has to pay the bills somehow. And she has harsh words for those who have something negative to say about it.
“I’ve done some modeling for pay," Ould told MMA Explosion. "Others have been shoots just for fun, or to just do something outside my comfort zone. I’m not proud of everything I’ve done, but I try to make the best choices I can. My managers have told me as an athlete I have to be a little more open minded as to ways to make money. So I might do some shoots here and there. When you’re a single mom with two kids and not getting any child support, you just do what you can. Some might judge me for it, but they can suck it. They don’t pay my bills.”
Props to Ould for not worrying about what other people have to say about her career decisions. The 7-3 flyweight is currently a free-agent, ever since Bellator decided to phase out its women's division.
She says a new deal may be in the works soon, but she's not sure which promotion she'll be signing with.
“My managers are the ones doing all the work on this," Ould said. "I tend to not make the best decisions off the cuff like this. So I’m just going to let them handle it this time. The two promotions are both writing up their contracts and offers, and we’ll go with whichever one is the best for me. It’s something I just have to think real hard about, because I have to think of the long term and what is best. I can’t just go with the instant gratification, but what will be best over time.”
Ould holds no hard feelings towards Bellator. She's just excited for the next chapter in life.
“Bellator never did anything bad to me though," Ould said. "I heard about some of the shady stuff that was going on, like with Eddie Alvarez and others which concerned me. I mean, if they will do that to other people, what would stop them from doing that with me? But it’s good I never got locked in like that with them, now they released me for good, so it’s all worked out for the best I think.”
