On Feb. 9, first lady Michelle Obama began her three-day tour celebrating the two-year anniversary of "Let’s Move," her initiative to battle childhood obesity. The tour ends with a visit to Walt Disney World Resort on Saturday.
Michelle Obama’s visit to Walt Disney World Resort will take place at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The event offers an afternoon of fun, physical activities for the family, encouraging kids to be active.
Saturday's event will be attended by hundreds local kids and their families. Michelle Obama and these guests will be joined by Disney Channel and Disney XD stars and professional athletes. Attendance at the event at ESPN Wide World of Sports is by invitation only, with tickets distributed by distributed by local faith and community organizations.
In a press release, the White House announced Michelle Obama will also make stops in Iowa, Arkansas, Texas and other areas of Florida to promote "Let’s Move." During the tour, the first lady is meeting with teachers, officials, community leaders, parents and children who have worked with the initiative.
"Let's Move" focuses on improving the health of American children. Its four-part program emphasizes education, school-meal programs, access and affordability to healthier foods, and physical activity.
“...that’s the mission of 'Let’s Move' – to create a wave of efforts across this country that get us to our goal of solving childhood obesity in a generation,” Michelle Obama said two years ago when the initiative was launched.

Since its launch in 2010, "Let’s Move" has enjoyed quite a number of successes under Michelle Obama’s care. Included among them:
- new school meal regulations;
- a commitment from Darden restaurants to improve kids menus;
- a commitment from Walmart, Supervalu, Walgreens and other grocers to build or expand stores in areas that have limited access to healthy, affordable food;
- the launch of Let’s Move! Museums and Gardens;
- HealthierUS School Challenge, a program which exceeded its goal with over 1,500 schools achieving high standards in nutrition and exercise; and
- participation from a large number of faith and community organizations, with groups developing their own locally-focused initiatives.
Michelle Obama’s tour closely follows President Obama’s trip to Magic Kingdom, where he announced tourism initiatives to attract international visitors and create domestic jobs.
