Michelle Obama's new look: FLOTUS on cutting edge for 49th birthday (Video)

On Jan. 17, Michelle Obama wasn't on the fringe of fashion, according to recent photos shown by OMG! on Yahoo. Not at all. In fact, the First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS) was right on trend, rocking new bangs on her 49th birthday just as many other cutting-edge luminaries, like Jennifer Lopez, are also swapping sleeker styles for this youthful look.

To prove the power of her fresh shearing, OMG! shared two, side-by-side shots of Barack's very provocative wife. The first picture, which was an old one showing her old look, was placed next to a flattering image of her new look, illustrating how big a difference a few snips to the front of her chin-length hair has made for this high profile fashionista.

Not only was this a special day in the life of Mrs. Obama, but it also was a good time to debut her new 'do on her newly opened FLOTUS Twitter account that also took a bow exactly one year before Michelle turns 50.

Michelle Obama spent time on this year's birthday representing in her chopped off fringe while working on details for the upcoming Inaugural and while chatting up the Martin Luther King Day of Service on social media. Meanwhile, as seen in the video below, last year she headed off to a steak house with her husband for a nice, quiet dinner with Barack.

This famous couple also celebrated this big birthday by going out to dinner, this year at Georgetown mainstay Cafe Milano, where Michelle Obama shared her new cutting edge look in another intimate setting.
