Michelle Obama, the First Lady, wore a gorgeous teal green dress at the Kennedy Center Honors gala at the White House in Washington, D.C., according to a Dec. 9 report in US Weekly. The President of the United States, Barack Obama, accompanied his wife of more than 21 years at the Christmas decorated event.
Michelle Obama donned a simply stunning floor length teal strapless gown designed by Marchesa and an understated diamond necklace. Obama took a risk with her hair, styling it in loose tousled waves that further softened the First Lady’s romantic look.
Michelle Obama has come under fire for her clothing choices in the past. Michelle mentioned a time when she wore shorts during the Obama’s vacation, and was subsequently flamed for her outfit.
I know the first time we went on a family vacation I had shorts on getting off of Air Force One. That created a huge stink because people were like, 'She's wearing shorts getting off of Air Force One.' And I thought, 'We're on vacation! ' So, I've avoided shorts getting off of Air Force One," Michelle said.
The gala was held to celebrate America’s best performance artists and many stars were in attendance, such as Billy Joel, Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, Martina Arroyo and Shirley MacLaine. The event will air on television later in December.
