Michelle Obama: First Lady pearls and how to achieve the look

The fascinating First Lady Michelle Obama, yet again displayed her impeccable style on Oprah’s Christmas at the White House.

Mrs. Obama looked radiant in her plum velvet dress by designer Azzedine Alaia. However the finishing touch to her lovely dress, was a double strand of pearls with a diamond floral brooch.

To achieve Mrs. Obama’s look for a fraction of the cost, consider Carolee’s three row pearl necklace with cluster pearl flower. For a simple but classic look, try the two strand white pearl necklace, which was worn by Mrs. Obama for her White House portrait.

Pearls have been associated with first ladies for decades - Jacqueline Kennedy’s sophisticated three-strand pearls and Barbara Bush’s famous chocker. Current fashion trend shows pearls in a variety of styles and colors like grey or gold .

Whether worn everyday, after five, or a bride-to-be, pearls should be a staple in every woman’s wardrobe.

This is so true. Another staple along with pearls are diamonds.

Vernita, you're so right. A simple single strand or 3-strand choker can add the right touch to any outfit. Great article and advice.
