Michelle Obama isn’t just interested in eating right, she is concerned about America’s drinking habits as well. In fact, the health-conscious first lady teamed up with the nonprofit Partnership for a healthier America in Watertown, WI to promote water as a healthier choice over sugary sodas. The program is also being backed by the American Beverage Association and the International Bottles Water Association.
According to the CDC “ 43% of Americans drink fewer than four cups of water a day, and about one in four kids don't drink water at all on a given day.”
“Water is so basic, and because water is so plentiful, sometimes we just forget about it amid all the ads we watch on television and all the messages we receive every day about what to eat and drink,” she stated during the campaign’s kickoff at Watertown High School.
Mrs Obama has counseled both adults and kids to switch from soda to water for a long time, and has spoken about the improvement she has seen in both Sasha and Malia after making they began to add more water to their diets, including becoming “more alert.”
