Michelle Obama and Beyonce are reportedly BFFs known as "best friends forever", according to a Jan. 17 report from CNN.

The first lady turned 50-years-old on Friday. It's reported that she was serenaded by Beyonce, who is also her best friend. The White House did not comment on whether the singer will be in attendance for her friend's birthday party.

It appears that Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Carter are very close. The singer has performed Etta James' "At Last" at President Obama's first inaugural ball. She even helped Mrs. Obama with her "Let's Move!" campaign to fight childhood obesity.

It's not just Mrs. Obama that's been rubbing elbows with Mrs. Carter. Daughters Malia and Sasha attended one of Beyonce's concerts in their hometown of Chicago. The singer wrote a public thank-you letter to her bestie: "Michelle, thank you so much for every single thing that you do for us. I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to."

Mrs. Obama tweeted, "@Beyonce Thank you for the beautiful letter and for being a role model who kids everywhere can look up to. --mo" [SIC] Bey must refer to her best friend as "Mo".

Some people don't like the friendship. A group of Christian moms were anxious over their friendship because of the performer's revealing costumes and sexy hip shaking moves.

People often criticize the Obamas for rubbing elbows with celebrities. They believe the first family should just focus on world affairs. Sometimes powerful friends like Michelle Obama and Beyonce can attract powerful haters in the world.
