Michelle O channeling Jackie O?

Bread and couture for the masses: Fashion Femme Queen

channeling the charms of the original Democrat Diva, Jackie O?

Is anyone else getting wrist-slashing bored over the unmitigated giddy slobbering the mainstream media amasses on Michelle Obama?

The creepy media mutts and fashion photogs pant after the First Lady like she's the Second Coming of Jackie Onassis.

She's Movie Idol, Superstar, European Royalty, Cultural Diva and Holy Madonna all rolled into one mega-merchandising mind-manipulating media package.

She's the Imperial Majesty so many Americans lust after but can't have because that silly old Constitution proscribes crowned craniums in America.

Her face, and fashions, have festooned the covers of Vogue, Ebony, Essence, Newsweek, People, and many many more, sometimes with family and First Man, but often alone. (Except O magazine, where she shared the cover with that other O media maven, Winfrey.

As for TV appearances, it would be easier to list the shows she hasn't been on. Unadulterated adoration, along with the requisite unmitigated giddy slobbering, is de rigueur there as well.

During a D-Day anniversary ceremony in France, the Great Free World Watchdog Media that protects our liberties by serving as check and balance against overweening government power-grabbing focused their photographic focal planes on the object of their adulation, the wife of President Obama and, just for good measure, France's first lady and former model Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.

The Fantastic Firsts were duded out in white. And while no member of the Fourth Estate seems able to tell us any details about the President's "Public Insurance Plan" (a precursor, libertarians contend, to full-blown nationalized health care) or his so-called foreign policy or where all the bailout bucks and the stimulus stash actually went, we can rely on our reporters to tell us:

"Bruni's cream Dior dress and Obama's white Narcisco Rodriguez coat, which she wore over a Michael Kors sheath dress and cinched with a Givenchy belt, paired well. Fabulous first ladies think alike." – aol.com

At least the foreign press knew what was important:

"Certainly, there will be some questions asked over whether a light, summery colour is disrespectful on a sombre day of remembrance." – telegraph.co.uk

Wearing WHITE on D-Day! Horrors! Gasp! Wheeze! Choke! An international incident!

But fear not. The masses, as well as the mass media, are always with Michelle O. Here are a very few reader comments from a recent AOL article, just so you know that the Democrat Diva is not merely admired but profoundly worshipped:

"Go Michelle!! You are amazing! You would be amazing wearing a brown paper bag!"

"Michelle is just perfect the way she is."

"I approve of her a hundred percent."

"She is a great and beautiful lady."

"GO MICHELLE, GO MICHELLE. GO MICHELLE. YEAAAAH!"

I am a big Obama supporter who voted for him and will vote for him again considering the alternatives the Republicans are apparently offering. But I strongly believe that there are more important things to report than every move of the president and his wife. I think we need to get rid of this whole business of "White House pool". Even when the Obama expressedly say they are going for a private matter, the press still reports. Michelle does not make policies so unless she is making a public appearance I think covering their every move is obsessive. The same is applied to FoxNews which obsessively analyzes every word the president speaks to "prove" that he is a socialist, fascist, muslim who want to destroy his own country - the same dirty tricks that didn't work during the last election. I think FoxNews believe that we all have brains made of cork.

Enough of the frivolous things: how about the economy, the wars, stimulus spending, government policies, giving affordable health care.

JBoud, you have my sympathies and I believe I have some grape Kool-Aid you might like, but comparing the horse-gait of Michelle Obama to the smoothly and fashionably attired Jackie O is beyond irrational. Jackie Kennedy was a proud lady who served her country and her husband well with grace, poise, and style. Michelle Obama should learn to be more soft-spoken and lady-like. Both women had/have crosses to bear in their choice of mates, but one made us proud, while the other is making some of us wretch.

THANK YOU! I am so tired of Michelle's face peering at me from every magazine that I could scream (loved the Oprah issue where Michelle is standing there and Oprah is next to her - hands folded as if praying directly to her. Thought I would die laughing). Yes ... everyone is slobbering like crazy over this woman, who is interesting but not The Woman of all women. And they rave about her fashion sense. Honestly - that thing she wore to the Inagural looked like a BATH ROBE and her ball gown for the ball looked like a big puff of Cool Whip. I hope people get over this in the next four years. It's sort of sick....

If the most important thing Libertarians have to grumble about is media coverage of the First Lady, things must not be going too badly...

Also, the media is the "Fourth Estate," not the First. FYI.

Michelle Obama's choice of mate makes you wretch, Donna? Really? Who should she have married?

  • Donna, gyroscope2000.today.com 2 years ago

Moonbat, there are several definitions for the word "wretch" but only one for a fool who voted Obama into office, that would be "Kool-Aid Drinker." I have land in Arizona with several miles of lake front, interested?

  • J. Random Moonbat 2 years ago

I notice, Donna, that you still didn't answer the question...who should Michelle Obama have married?

Just what does "ladylike" mean? Should Eleanor Roosevelt have been more "soft-spoken and ladylike?" How about Barbara Bush? Nancy Reagan? They all seemed to have no problems speaking out on issues they cared about. Why shouldn't Michelle Obama? Certainly you'd have to agree that she's been less "un-ladylike" than Hillary Clinton?

There are in fact lakes in Arizona, which one do you have property on? I may be interested. Or was that just a lame attempt at a put-down?

The two black women who come to mind that seem to exude grace and style, and a way with speeches and pleasantries, are Halle Berry and Condoleezza Rice. Perhaps for style tips and how to behave in the company of royalty, dignitaries, and so forth, Mrs. Obama might consult Ms. Rice—who was never an embarrassment to the United States, unlike her counterpart Mrs. Clinton.

As to picking a mate for life, Michelle Obama could have faired as well at the playboy mansion.
