The latest episode of “19 Kids and Counting” starring America’s favorite super-sized family aired on Oct. 1. During the new show titled “Flea Market Challenge,” Michelle Duggar talked about having more children and the possibility of adoption. She’s already the mother of 19 children, but would like to have more.
While cleaning out a warehouse filled with family treasures, the matriarch of the Duggar family was overcome with emotion. Upon seeing the tiny baby clothes, she said that this was the first time in 24 years that she didn’t have a baby in diapers. “That’s a big change,” she stated. She went on to say that she and husband Jim Bob have been praying about adoption and discussing the possibility. Michelle Duggar delivered all 19 of her children, but back in Dec. of 2009, her youngest, Josie Duggar, was born at just 24 weeks. The tiny tot spent three months in the NICU unit at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. She is now an adorable and thriving three-year-old. Fans have often wondered if Michelle would try again to have another child after Josie’s scary birth and lengthy hospital ordeal.
As far as delivering a child herself, Michelle Duggar stated, “I don’t know if we will conceive and have any more children. We’ll just wait and see. If not, we’ll be content with that.” However, adoption could be an alternative path. “We’ve been to places where there are children who need homes,” Michelle said on Tuesday’s new episode of “19 Kids and Counting.” So, it sounds like Michelle and Jim Bob would be happy to adopt a child, but they are also resigned to the possibility that they may not be approved due to the size of their existing family. “You have to say goodbye to what season you used to be in and welcome the new season. I’m learning how to do that.”
The two new episodes of “19 Kids and Counting” also featured Anna Duggar and her quest to adapt to life in Washington, DC. She drove in the big city for the first time and successfully took all three children on the Metro for a play date. Her parents traveled from Florida for a visit and they met Marcus for the first time. Anna’s mom, Suzette Keller, said, “We’re just so thrilled that we get to hold him in our arms and be here to celebrate this time with Josh and Anna.” Mike Keller, Anna’s dad, was blown away with their new home, which is three times larger than their old house, and especially loved the fact that it has four bathrooms and a nice view from the backyard. “This has exceeded anything they can ever desire to have. It’s gorgeous,” he stated.
Back in Arkansas, the Duggars all chipped in and cleaned out a large warehouse packed with personal effects. They decided to sell much of the stuff at a flea market, with the proceeds going to the NICU unit at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The Northwest Arkansas website said that the flea market took place on Sept. 7 and that it included a kiddie area with rides and concession stands. According to radio station Nash 94.3, the Duggar’s flea market raised more than $18,000 for the children’s hospital.
