As 2013 gets under way the Top 5 bands from 2012’s Top 25 bands in Long Beach took some time to answer some questions about what is in store for the coming years and where it all began. Here is Michelle Blanchard singer of Life Down Here and the number 3 band from 2012.

When did the band form?
We actually formed while in the studio, so we have been together since maybe March of 2012 and released our album about a year ago. Jan of 2012

How did you all find each other?
Eli and I have been playing in bands together for almost 4 years now. We met Nick and started playing with him and he introduced us to Jeff and once we all started playing together, it all clicked!

What other bands have you played in?
Eli and I were in a band together before Life Down Here and it was just Michelle Blanchard Band. Growing up, I know we were all in a bunch of different high school bands and cover bands but there are so many I can't even think of the names. LOL

Who writes what in the band?
All of the writing is done by me (Michelle), Eli (bass player), or a couple over outside co-writers (Marcos Curiel from POD, Jason Evigan from After Midnight Project).

What was your initial reaction when you saw the final vote for 2012’s top bands in LB? It's always a great feeling to be nominated or voted for anything, but when we saw that we were so high up on the list… WOW THANK YOU! It's very rewarding to know that your hard work pays off and it definitely makes us happy that we can continue do what we do. Thank you to everyone who voted!

How important is it to you that your fellow musicians like what you’re doing? It's pretty also a great thing to have fellow musicians believe in your band as much as you do. We put together a band to get our music out there, our stories heard by people and to help others through our music, so to have fellow musicians enjoy it too is always a nice feeling :]

If you could choose any band off the 2012 top 25 to play a show with who would it be?
IF we had to choose one band to play with, it would have to be Je T'aime! Haven't had a chance to check them out live yet, but they gave us a demo and it sounded pretty awesome and close to what we aim for in our music. Great people too, so I feel like we would be a good fit together!

What steps are you taking to better yourselves in 2013? Big things in the works for 2013 for LDH! Currently doing a high school tour in SoCal, already hit about 20 schools and plenty more to come. Of course we continue to have gigs on the weekends at local venues. Just really spreading the LDH name more and more.

Any new music in the works?
There's always new music in the works. We have about 7 completed songs that aren't recorded, but we do play them live sometimes. Soooo if you want to hear what's new with LDH come check out a show!

What tours do you have planned already?
The SoCal high school tour is really what we're focusing on for right now. Any other shows and/or tour opportunities that come our way we will gladly consider!

Is there any bands you’re hoping to play with in 2013? This last year we actually had the pleasure to open up for a few of our favorite bands and a few bands we've always hoped to be able to open for: Paramore, Lost Prophets, and Cherri Bomb. We would absolutely love to open for any of them again!

Are there any festivals in the works? We are looking to play the Gay Pride festivals AGAIN this summer. Last year we play 3 of the Pride festivals and it was great, so we definitely will be shooting to play a few more of them this Pride season.

Will Life Down Here be doing SXSW? We will not be attending SXSW. We decided against it for this year, really pushing to get the LDH name out in the world some more before we tackle that venture.

What are the goals for Life Down Here this year? Getting LDH on the radio would be our biggest goal this year! Y'all wanna help us make it happen?? :]

Do you have any last words?
Hope everyone's ready for a big 2013 from LDH, we plan on making this year THE YEAR! And thank you again to everyone who voted for us as one of the top 25 bands, really means a lot, especially being in the top 3! THANK YOU!
