The Michelin recall involves tires that are prematurely losing tread and/or losing air pressure, rapidly, according to information posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.

Officials say the tires recalled are limited to commercial light trucks, heavy-duty vans, pickup trucks, and small RVs and involve Michelin LTX M/S tires that were manufactured between the period January 2010 and June 2012.

Ford used the OEM tires in airport shuttles (E-Series) and the like (2010 through 2013 models of its E-Series vans, a Ford spokeswoman, Kelli Felker, said in an email on the Michelin recalls.

The faulty Michelin tires were sold as original equipment (OEM) on vehicles at the time or purchase or were bought as replacement tires.

Michelin advises customers to return the products at authorized dealers as soon as possible to prevent treads from coming apart. At this point, only about 200 customers have returned tires as part of the recall, but more are expected as word gets out.
