Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann tweeted on Jan. 3, 2013 that she introduced a bill to repeal Obamacare, making this the 34th attempt to get rid of the Affordable Health Care Act.
Repealing Obamacare is a lofty goal for the Republican representative who dropped out of the 2012 presidential election after finishing in sixth place in the Iowa caucuses.
On Thursday, Bachmann tweeted, "At noon today, I introduced the first bill of the 113th Congress to repeal Obamacare in its entirety."
Her legislation is not something new. There have been 33 previous attempts by Republicans to repeal the law and it comes with a hefty price tag.
CBS News reported in July 2012 that efforts to repeal Obamacare sucks up about 80 hours of time in Congress. That equals approximately two weeks of work with a cost of about $48 million.
Aside from the massive cost of trying to repeal this bill, Think Progress puts Michele Bachmann's attempt at getting rid of Obamacare into perspective:
"The 112th Congress gaveled to a close on Thursday afternoon without passing a relief package for victims of Hurricane Sandy or reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act ... Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) isn’t too concerned about finishing what Republicans had left undone. Instead, at 12:00 PM she introduced the very first piece of legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act..."
