After the Tea Party Republicans in the House of Representatives succeeded in forcing a government shutdown over their opposition to the Affordable Care Act, someone probably should have informed their chief crazy person, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) that this was the point where they were all supposed to start pretending this was a bad thing brought on by stubborn Democrats.
While Newt Gingrich, Darrell Issa and Steve Stockman were all trying to pretend that they hated the shutdown and entirely blamed President Obama for it, Michele Bachmann told Sean Hannity on Wednesday that "this is about the happiest" she has seen Republicans.
Hannity expressed concerns that some Republicans could be "buckling" under pressure to end the shutdown, but Bachmann’s assured that the G.O.P. is holding together for now.
"This is about the happiest I've seen members in a long time because we've seen we’re starting to win this dialogue on a national level," said Bachmann.
Bachmann was also quoted by the Washington Post as having said over the weekend of the looming shutdown: "We're very excited. It's exactly what we wanted, and we got it."
Bachmann later held up police tape from the World War II memorial to boast about how Republicans are fighting to fund these services while the Democrats are blocking them, apparently having somehow already forgotten that she had just said earlier that the shutdown was exactly what she had been hoping for.
