Michaele and Tareq Salahi were on the ‘Today’ show still insisting they were invited to the White House.
Michaele and Tareq Salahi, the potential ‘Real Housewives of DC’ stars, appeared on the ‘Today’ show Tuesday morning for free, they insisted, and told Matt Lauer they have emails to prove they were invited to attend last Tuesday’s White House state dinner. When asked to expand on the explanation, Michaele and Tareq Salahi would not elaborate, claiming they wanted to wait until the Secret Service was done investigating.
However, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs, who also appeared on the ‘Today’ show, insisted the Salahis had not been invited. The Salahis admitted they couldn't go into too much detail as they are fully cooperating with the Secret Service and "working on their timeline" throughout the investigation. Once that's complete, they plan to come back to the ‘Today’ show to sit with Lauer in person.
Tareq Salahi stated in the interview, “We're greatly saddened by all the circumstances that have been involved in portraying my wife and I as party crashers. I can tell you my wife and I did not party crash the White House.”
"We're going to show you documentation from emails that you'll get a chance to see," Tareq Salahi went onto state. "In our views, it's clear to us. Based on the timeline, I think the American public is actually going to be extremely surprised with all the details that went from beginning to end into what was supposed to be a lovely, beautiful evening, a lifetime memory."
As wife Michaele Salahi sated in the ‘Today’ show interview, “We were invited, not crashers…There isn't anyone that would have the audacity or the poor behavior to do that. The White House is the house and no one would do that. And certainly not us.”
The ‘Today’ show reports that a misdemeanor trespassing charge against the couple is being considered as this is not the first time Michaele and Tareq Salahi have crashed an event in which the Obamas attended. On September 26th 2009 during the Congressional Black Caucus dinner, the Salahis were reportedly uninvited and escorted out. The Salahis denied these allegations as well.
In further news, there are now reports claiming Bravo might be having second thoughts about casting the Salahis in their upcoming show, “The Real Housewives of Washington D.C.” A Bravo spokes person said, “The decision as to who will be included in “The Real Housewives of D.C.” will not be made for several months.”
