Michael W. Smith has been giving his suitcase as much of a workout as his vocal cords recently as he has performed more than 20 shows around the world in April and May with 11 appearances across Canada, four shows in South Africa (followed by a quick stop in Zambia) and six shows in Brazil. He will soon follow that by jumping on the road again with World Vision’s “Make A Difference Tour 2010.”

Smith started off the world tour with across Canada. In just two weeks, Smith traveled across the country from Montreal, Quebec, to Victoria, British Columbia and performed a string of sold out performances in front of nearly 20,000 fans.

His next concert tour took him to South Africa, where over four days, Smitty gave four concerts to more than 23,000 fans. Next in Zambia, Smith drew a crowd of 7,000 people.
Michael W. Smith in Brazil
After leaving Africa, Smith spent 10 days in Brazil stopping in the cities of Belo Horizonte, Aracaju, Cabo Frio and São Paulo. He performed six times in Brazil and ended his international tour with the concerts in São Paulo on June 2 and 3. More than 10,000 fans attended the two São Paolo concerts alone.
Michael W. Smith in Costa Rica & Guatemala
Smith's world tour concluded in Central America with a stop in San Jose, Costa Rica. The scheduled last show of the tour was planned for Guatemala City, Guatemala but was postponed due to the volcano and hurricane. Smitty will return to Guatemala on July 25th to perform a benefit concert to raise money in support of the victims of the storm and volcano.

He is not only lending his talents to aid storm victims in Guatemala. Michael W. Smith is also part of the sold-out “Nashville Rising” concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena set for Tuesday, June 22, 2010, to benefit victims of the recent Nashville flood. He joins artists including Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Brooks & Dunn, Amy Grant, Miley Cyrus, ZZ Top and more for a fundraiser to aid The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and its ongoing flood recovery efforts. No word yet on if he plans to write or record a song to benefit his home city of Nashville like Smith did for Haiti.
