Michael Vick to New York Jets rumors have surfaced again. Vick will meet with the New York Jets on Friday (March 21) after the Oakland Raiders decided he wouldn't be a primary option to sign this offseason. According to a report from Yahoo! late Wednesday (March 19), this could be one of the final options for the veteran quarterback when it comes to finding a starting job in the NFL again.
It is no secret that Rex Ryan's crew isn't sold on Geno Smith just yet and that point was hammered home when they wouldn't commit publicly to him being the starting quarterback for the team in 2014. This opens the door for an offseason acquisition and that is what the meeting on Friday is going to be about. If it turns out that the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is very affordable, the team might just take a shot on him.
Last season, Smith led the NFL in turnovers, but the team still felt he was a better option than Mark Sanchez down the stretch. His struggles as a rookie have opened the door for the team to bring in someone else and now these Michael Vick to New York Jets rumors actually make sense. The franchise could bring in the veteran as a way to create another quarterback competition in camp and possibly to provide someone that Smith could learn a thing or two from.
During the 2013 NFL season, Geno Smith passed for 3,046 yards and 12 touchdowns in 16 games. He struggled a lot, throwing 21 interceptions and committing eight fumbles during that time He amassed a quarterback rating of 66.5 and a completion percentage of 55.8 in that time.
