Michael Vick rumors have the New York Jets possibly interested in the free agent quarterback. These Vick to Jets rumors make sense, as the offensive coordinator in New York is Marty Mornhinweg, who was his former offensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles. According to a report from NFL.com on Monday (Feb. 24), it is clear that this could be a good place for the veteran quarterback to play during the 2014 NFL season.
The idea with a signing like this would be to have him compete with Geno Smith for the starting job during the preseason. The veteran could push Smith to be better at the position and a worst case scenario for the organization is that they end up with a suitable backup on the roster. The former Eagles quarterback has already stated that he wants to be a starter in the league again, likely ruling out a return to Philadelphia unless no other organization offers him that shot.
As the 2014 NFL Draft draws closer, there are likely to be more Michael Vick rumors popping up. He is the best free agent quarterback about to become available this season and could be competing with former Chicago Bears QB Josh McCown for the pending openings around the league. Both guys have different styles, so it could come down to which one is the best fit for a given organization. At the moment, it makes the New York Jets look like a better fit for Vick.
