Michael Vick was named starting quarterback on Tuesday August 20, before the third preseason game. Vick beat out Nick Foles for the Philadelphia Eagles starting job in what turned out to be a heated competition on the field. Both players have played exceptionally well during the preseason, but Michael Vick has been on another level so far.
With Chip Kelly’s new offensive system, Vick has been completing over 86 percent of his passes in the first two games. Now that he is entrenched as the starter once again, expect Michael Vick to play three quarters at Jacksonville on Saturday.
While naming Michael Vick the starter, Chip Kelly stated that “He’s our starter for the season.” He also said that Nick Foles made the competition “very difficult” to pick Vick.
CBSSports.com noted that Foles “looked quite good running Chip Kelly’s fast-paced during the preseason, but it was a no-brainer decision for the coach.”
The Philadelphia Eagles start the season at Washington is what could be rejuvenating year. Under Chip Kelly, Vick looks happy and fresh so far. If he’s able to implement his skills within the offensive flow, Philadelphia may shock some teams inside the division.
The biggest concern for Philadelphia now is keeping Michael Vick healthy for the long haul. He’s only played a full season once in his career.
