Michael Vick called 'monster' and 'disgrace' in petition for Jets' camp ban

Michael Vick’s crime against dogs has not been forgotten as a petition urging that Vick be banned from the Jets’ training camp site is online soliciting folks to sign up. The quarterback pleaded guilty to the charges filed in federal court back in 2007 after an investigation found that he played a part in a dog-fighting ring, according to Fox Sports on April 7.

Vick did two years in prison and returned to the NFL staying out of trouble while playing five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. The petition states that Vick never apologized for his part in this crime, which he did.

The petition is addressed to the president of the State University of New York at Cortland. While the Jets have been to this campus for the last four out of the five Jets camps, there’s no word yet if they plan to go there again this year.

The Jets signed Vick in March and apparently some of the students want the Jets to leave Vick out of their camp this year. The petition didn’t sugar coat a thing, calling the quarterback a “monster and a disgrace.”

Along with the petition a picture of Vick is posted next to a mauled dog in what is being called a “graphic picture.” The petition includes:

"We MUST send the message that we won't be party to the torture of animals by conveniently forgetting what he has done. If we welcome Vick onto our campus, we are complicit in his crimes. We are sending the message that, for money and publicity, we will turn a blind eye to the horrors of dogfighting. I don't want to be that person, and I don't want SUNY Cortland to abandon its principles so easily."

The petition is rounding 1,400 signatures and there is no word from the University about their thoughts on banning Vick or even if they were hoping to host the Jets camp again this year. When Vick signed with the Jets, PETA was not very happy, as reported in the video above.
