Michael Strahan is not only a full-time co-host on "Live with Kelly and Michael" and a part-time co-host on "Good Morning America, but according to People online magazine last Sunday, Strahan can cross something else off his bucket list. The 42-year-old former New York Giants football player and 2014 Hall of Famer has designed his own ice cream.
Strahan teamed up with Sprinkles that opened in New York last Friday to sell his ice cream. His Mom & Michael's Masterpiece Mix is a scoop of vanilla ice cream laced with chocolate covered peanuts, chocolate chips and ribbons of caramel. Each scoop is topped with freshly baked butter cake crumbles inspired by Michael's mother's famous butter cake recipe.
Strahan is excited about sharing his mother’s butter cake mixed with the ice cream. This mixture tastes similar to his favorite sweet treat. According to Sprinkles website, Sprinkles will donate 100% of the purchase price of every Mom & Michael's Masterpiece Mix ice cream flavor, with a minimum donation of $20,000, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital from April 23, 2014 - May 31, 2014.
At the grand opening of Sprinkles last Friday, Strahan told People magazine, “I have the biggest sweet tooth! You name it, I will eat it. My all-time favorite is my mother’s butter cake. Every time I go home, my mom will already have the cake made because I love it so much. This makes my siblings mad because they think she favors me. I don’t care because she probably does!”
Strahan recalls that while growing up, he and his father would eat ice cream and watch television together after dinner. He says, "It was a family tradition that I had with my father. It was nice.” So what Strahan has done was to combine experiences from his family come up with the mix to share with others. Strahan wants New Yorkers to swing by Sprinkles at 780 Lexington Avenue, New York for a scoop of his new ice cream flavor.
