Shannon has shown his acting range can expand outside of the “Empire,” appearing in many of this year’s big films – including “Man of Steel” and the indie hit “Mud.” Prior to joining HBO’s Prohibition-era drama, Shannon received an Oscar nomination for his supporting performance in the 2008 film, “Revolutionary Road.” He has taken on a lot of different roles, but this could be “his toughest assignment yet,” writes Showbiz411’s Roger Friedman.
This meeting between Presley and Nixon happened at the White House on Dec. 21, 1970. During this meeting, Presley bashed The Beatles for being “anti-American” and brought the president a gun. Nixon gave Presley a sheriff’s badge in exchange.
The film is being produced by Holly Wiersma and Logan Levy, both of whom served on the TIFF hit “Dallas Buyers Club.” No names have been mentioned for the role of Nixon.
Shannon reprises his role as Nelson Van Alden in the fourth season of “Boardwalk Empire,” which airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
