Michael Schumacher's 1998 Ferrari F300 race car sells for $1.7 million at the Barrett-Jackson auction on January 18 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Formula One race car was driven 38-times by the F1 legend
and was fully restored by Ferrari.
The F300 is powered by a “... Tipo 047, a V10 engine with opposing cylinders set at an 80-degree angle and capable of 805hp @ 17,500rpm.” This is the third of nine F300 chassis that Ferrari produced and it was the beginning of dominance for the team. Using an F300 chassis Schumacher won six-races and had 11-podiums in 1998. From 1999-2004 Ferrari won the F1 constructor's championship.
Tragically Michael Schumacher is in a medically induced coma after sustaining head injuries during a skiing accident on December 29th in the Alps.
Schumacher raced in F1 from 1991-2006 and 2010-2012 and won a record 91-races. He is F1's all-time leader with seven championships, including a record five in a row from 2001-2004.
