Michael Sam a Cowboy? The recently released St. Louis Rams defensive rookie may not be with out a team for long as rumors are swirling the Dallas Cowboys may be adding him to the roster. According to the NY York Daily News on Sept. 3, Sam, pending a physical examination on Wednesday, could be a member of the Dallas Cowboys within the next 24 hours.

Sam, who made history as the first openly gay player in the NFL, played well for the Rams in the preseason, especially in the final two games, yet he was released by St. Louis on the final day of cuts. If Sam thought the spotlight was bright in St. Louis, just wait until he suits up in Big D! Everyone who plays in "Jerry's World" is always under the microscope.

So far, Sam looks like he can handle the NFL pressure. If the Cowboys do sign the rookie, he can only help one of the worst defenses in the game get better.

The Cowboys gave up the most yards in franchise history in 2013, and the third most in NFL history. That is not the way you want to enter the record books! Losing DeMarcus Ware to Denver will only make this bad Cowboys defense even worse in 2014. However, with the flashes Sam has shown, he may be able to bolster the 'Boys defensive end spot.

Who knows, maybe getting released from the Rams is the best thing that could happen for Sam, especially if he lands in Dallas. If he does ink a deal in Dallas it will be a homecoming for Sam who is from Galveston, Texas.
