According to US Weekly, Olympian Michael Phelps is a free man once again. Phelps and his girlfriend of the past nine months, model Megan Rossee, have split up.
TMZ reports that Michael Phelps, 27, ended the romance because he felt the relationship wasn’t going anywhere. They had been dating since March 2012, but didn’t announce their relationship until the Olympics in London in August.
Michael Phelps has won 22 Olympic medals. And even though he retired from swimming after the London Olympics, Phelps isn’t going to slack off this year. The newly-single Olympian will appear on the Golf Channel’s “Haney Project” in February.
"I have traveled the world through swimming, but really haven’t had an opportunity to experience the world through my travels," Phelps -- whose golf game will get some pointers from host Hank Haney -- has said. "As I enter this next chapter of my life, I think I will be able to shift my competitiveness to anything I put my mind to and golf is one of the things I want to focus on."
Golf is important to Phelps. He established the Michael Phelps Foundation to grow the sport of swimming and to promote healthy and active lives. The foundation hosts a yearly Golf Classic, last held in Sept. 2012.
