Michael Muhney was fired from "The Young and the Restless" last month and now the dirty secret is out regarding the reasons for his immediate termination. Muhney played the popular Adam Newman on the show and his firing received a great deal of publicity. TMZ reports Jan. 4 that Muhney was let go because he groped a co-star's breasts on two separate occasions.
Multiple sources informed TMZ that Hunter King, 20 -- who plays Summer -- was allegedly "bullied and harassed" by Muhney, 38. She went to higher-ups and complained that Muhney had fondled her breasts on the set of "Y&R." The instances were said to be "unwanted and unsolicited" by the actress.
The report went on to reveal that Muhney is married with three children and that this type of behavior had been going on a long time not just with Hunter, but with other talent on the show. The top brass felt it was time to let Michael Muhney go. His last day on the set was Dec. 19 and his final air date is Jan. 30.
After Muhney was fired, he did an interview with HuffPo's Canada TV.
"Part of me feels this is because I've always been outspoken, and sometimes I've been too outspoken," Muhney said. "Sometimes I've walked around with a big backpack full of hubris. That is entirely on me."
The soap actor claimed his character of Adam was going to take a "break."
"It was explained to me that CBS and Sony want to give Adam a break for three to six months, and then they'll bring him back with a different actor," Muhney said.
Since Michael Muhney was fired, fans have threatened to stop watching "The Young and the Restless." He garnered a strong fan base that was shocked to learn of his sudden departure.
Reps for Muhney have not responded to requests for comment.
