Casting for Fox's small screen adaptation of Lauren Oliver's Delirium is rapidly winding down, but the latest to join the pilot group is television veteran Michael Michele (ER, Gossip Girl)!
Michele joins Delirium, per Deadline, as Senator Elyse Hargrove, described as "an ambitious widow with three children and Presidential aspirations who has a growing opposition to the political insurrection."
Lauren Oliver also shared the news on her blog, writing "Wow, all the casting is almost done! I’m very excited to announce that Michael Michele will be playing Senator Hargrove in the Delirium Pilot!"
She joins Emma Roberts, Daren Kagasoff, Gregg Sulkin, Billy Campbell, Jeanine Mason and Corey Reynolds among the cast.
Kagasoff, for one, has apparently been a particularly well received addition among the Delirium fan community.
On his Twitter feed, he's been posting show-related items of interest, like a selfie on the beach reading his brand new copy of the book and behind-the-scenes tidbits like info on on-going wardrobe fittings.
During a recent tour stop in support of the Delirium Trilogy closer, Requiem, Lauren Oliver spoke up about all the cast decisions made for the series and explained that she's "obsessed" with Daren Kagasoff and Gregg Sulkin who portray the heartthrob characters Alex and Julian, respectively. "She’s working closely with Fox and, depending on how long the series runs, may consider a different ending to the story to better fit the scope of the show and the progression of the television series," Bibliofiend reported on Thursday.
"Lauren suggested that even if the world wasn’t completely devastated, the United States of the story would use propaganda to ensure people believed that was the case. This would bolster support for their treating love as a disease and finding a cure."
