Michael Mann to direct Chris Hemsworth in an untitled thriller

Director Michael Mann (“Collateral”) hasn’t directed a film since 2009’s lackluster “Public Enemies,” but according to Variety yesterday he appears to be changing that.

Mann has signed on to direct an untitled thriller for Legendary Pictures with Chris Hemsworth (“Snow White and the Huntsman”) as the lead.

The plot details are scarce, but the film is said to take place in the world of cyber threats and attacks, and Hemsworth will undoubtedly play some kind of bad-ass.

Mann has been co-writing the script for over a year now with Morgan Davis Foehl (“Mass Effect”), and considering the background of the co-writer I am inclined to believe that, on paper anyways, this should be an incredible movie.

Production begins in June so more details should be available soon.
