Fashion designer and one-man-brand Michael Kors will be opening his own eponymous boutique in the Bal Harbour Shops this February. Kors' 2,000-square-foot store will carry the long-beloved classically beautiful pieces that his devotees normally shop for in department stores such as Bergdorf Goodman and Nordstrom.

Kors has long been a top American designer of everything from women's dresses, tops, and trousers to shoes, bags and belts. In 2010, his label now includes fragrances, men's clothing, swimwear, sunglasses and watches. A face was put to the label when Kors became a judge on the popular TV show, "Project Runway."

Of his decision to open the store in South Florida, Kors told the Miami Herald, "Miami is the opposite of New York when it comes to what people wear. People in Miami either dress casual or very dressy. There's no in-between." The Bal Harbour Shops are located at 9700 Collins Ave. in Bal Harbour.
