Women's Wear Daily (WWD) is reporting that American fashion designer Michael Kors has teamed up with Estee Lauder to release a limited edition makeup collection. The collection, Very Hollywood, is slated to be released in January, 2010.
Instead of creating a collection inspired by the over-the-top Hollywood we clamour to see on the red carpet, Kors' collection is a throwback to those in Tinsel Town who prefer a more laidback approach to celebrity and glamour.
“You walk into the office, and no one would say, ‘Is that a new lipstick?’ You look glamorous without looking painted. That would be your Hollywood moment, " says Kors of his new collection.
Each of the two color stories, Bel-Air Beige (which focuses on beige and coral tones) and Rodeo Pink (a vibrant pink that will undoubtedly be worn horribly wrong by Youth Dew devotees), features two lipglosses, two lipsticks, one blush, an eyeshadow duo, an eye pencil, and a corresponding nail lacquer. The suggested retail prices range from $18 to $32, which is typical of the Estee Lauder price point.
Aerin Lauder, the senior vice president and creative director for Estee Lauder points out that there are three standout pieces of the Michael Kors Very Hollywood makeup collection: a shimmering loose powder that retails for $32, the subtle pinkHollywood Gold lip sheen ($22) that features gold flecks, and the corresponding Hollywood Gold lip gloss, that retails for $20.
