The spotlight can never shine bright enough on Michael Kors and all that he represents. We saw him walk the Red Carpet proudly at the "Charles James: Beyond Fashion" Costume Institute Gala at Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday evening, May 5, 2014 in New York City. On his arm was the stunning actress, Zoe Saldana, wearing one of his original black and white creations.

However, the real talk of the week took place today, on Friday, May 9, 2014, as Michael Kors created The Michael Kors Jet Set Experience, an exclusive event in celebration of the opening of his brand's first China flagship store at the Jing'An Kerry Centre in Shanghai. It was a huge party, set in the expansive atmosphere of a private 30,000 square foot jet hangar at Hongqiao Airport in chic Kors style. Over 1,000 V.I.P. guests were surrounded by spectacular free-form holographic moving images on a live set, vibrating sounds and a venue filled with emotion that only Michael Kors can uniquely convey. Technology swept the attendees to three distinct destinations that have also been favorites of Kors. The projection screens formed one of the largest projection areas ever built, with a total area of more than 15,000 square feet and a main screen that was 44 feet high and 321 feet wide.

The Michael Kors Jet Set Experience captivated with a never-before-seen runway show featuring a signature Michael Kors Jet Set Collection that illustrated the sophistication and global appeal of Michael Kors' design philosophy. It came to a heart-stopping climax with a glamorous fete awakening with the sounds of New York-based DJ collective ,The Misshapes.

Worldwide Kors fans were able to follow the event live at www.destinationkors.com/jetset, WeChat and global platforms following #MKShanghai. The microsite, www.destinationkors.com/jetset, pulled in a live-feed of the event, showcasing social and digital content from the Shanghai hangar and sharing it with the world. Michael Kors proved how much his fans certainly mean to him with this triumphant celebration. A startling 17 million fans of the brand around the globe were able to follow the event live across multiple platforms.

During this experience, Michael Kors deployed the first-ever live-feed app on WeChat. It functioned as an interactive newsfeed, providing live images direct from the iPad photobooths set up on site, directly to user’s WeChat feeds. It was also announced that on Monday, May 12, 2014, Michael Kors will release MK360, a native (iOS & Android) mobile app, downloadable at www.destinationkors.com/jetset, allowing fans everywhere to experience the Michael Kors Jet Set Experience via an interactive 360-degree video of the event on their phones.

“This is the largest fashion event the company has ever undertaken and our major launch of the Michael Kors brand in the Greater China market,” says John D. Idol, Chief Executive Officer. “Our customer is international, so we are embarking upon an exceptional experience that is global in scope.”
