Heat Vision learned today that director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (“Babel”) has assembled quite the incredible cast for his upcoming comedy “Birdman.”
The film centers on an actor who once played an iconic superhero, and now faces troubles with his ego and family as he prepares to mount a Broadway play in a bid to reclaim past glory.
Michael Keaton (“Beetlejuice”), Emma Stone (“The Amazing Spider-Man”), Zach Galifianakis (“The Hangover”), and Naomi Watts (“Funny Games”) have all joined the cast.
Keaton is set to play the lead role of the washed up comic book movie actor (I hope there are “Batman” references), and should do well considering his comedic background (I loved “Multiplicity”).
Emma Stone will play Keaton’s daughter fresh out of rehab and now working as his assistant, Watts (who starred in Iñárritu’s “21 Grams” (incredible)) is set as an actress in the play, and Galifianakis is poised to portray the production’s conniving producer.
All-in-all I think this is pretty fantastic casting, and it can only get better once they cast the role of the ex-wife.
