After Michael K. Williams finishes portraying gangster Chalky White on the fourth season of “Boardwalk Empire,” he will be working on a new film in which he will play a lead detective. According to an Oct. 24 report from Deadline, Williams has signed on for the Jerry Jameson thriller, “Captive,” which is a fictionalized account of a true event.
Kate Mara, Leonor Varela, David Oyelowo, and Mimi Rogers also star in the film, which is based on the 2005 Brian Nichols case. Mara plays single mother Ashley Smith, who is trying to overcome her drug addiction so she can regain custody of her daughter. Oyelowo plays Nichols, the quadruple murderer who escapes from prison and takes Smith hostage. During her captivity, Smith reads aloud from Rick Warren’s “The Purpose Driven Life,” which creates an epiphany between her and her captor.
