He proposed to his girlfriend of three years in December of 2011 and now it seems like it is time for the wedding.
Basketball great Michael Jordan and his longtime love, model Yvette Prieto were at the Palm Beach County courthouse this past Thursday morning and applied for a marriage license.
Jordan, 50, and Prieto, 33 got engaged over Christmas weekend in 2011 and were rumored to be wed in 2012.
This will be the second marriage for Jordan who was married to Juanita Vanoy for 16 years.
That marriage ended in 2006 and they have three children together: Jeffery, 23, Marcus,21, and Jasmine, 18.
That divorce was rumored to have cost him $150 million.
Yvette, the cuban born model, who started modeling for commercials and swimsuit calenders has also studied business and has spent time working in her fathers company before becoming a full time paid model.
She was previously in a relationship with Julio Iglesias Jr.
Michael is known as the greatest basketball player of all time. He has earned himself the nicknames of "Air Jordan" and "His Airness"
He won his first NBA championship with the Chicago Bulls in 1991.
He has also appeared in the motion picture "Space Jams' and he helped Nike's Air Jordan Sneakers become a worldwide fashion trend in 1985 and they are still popular today.
People refer to him still as MJ, and he is well known and well loved around the world.
He is now the majority owner of the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats.
The couple has until May 9 to use their marriage license.
