Michael Jackson's 'This Is It' projected to make $30 million by end of Halloween weekend

Fans can't seem to get enough of 'This Is It', and now according to a new report, the film is said to be #1at the box office and is projected to make an estimated $30 million by the end of the Halloween weekend.

According to the Hollywood Reporter:

"Sony's Michael Jackson documentary "This Is It" topped the Friday boxoffice with an estimated $7.9 million in U.S. and Canadian coin. That yielded a 3 1/2-day cume of $19.1 million and makes it likely the film will top $30 million through Sunday. "This Is It" originally had been projected to bow north of $40 million through its first 5 1/2 days in domestic release. 'This Is It' bowed simultaneously in 97 foreign territories and seems to be outperforming internationally. Sony has promoted the release as a two-week-only global campaign."

Kenny Ortega said in a recent interview that he and Michael Jackson had plans to bring 'Thriller' to the big screen. He says of Michael Jackson:

"He told me he wanted to create a partnership with me to do films. We were talking about doing Legs Diamond. And we were talking about doing a full-length, 3-D feature of ‘Thriller.’ ”
