'This Is It' premiered tonight at the Los Angeles Nokia theatre, and it was truly a star-studded event. Michael Jackson has been such an inspiration to countless musicians, and two such musicians caught up with MTV to discuss the genius that is Michael Jackson.
Adam Lambert said of Michael Jackson's originality, "Michael wasn't afraid of just being himself. Michael didn't conform to one style of music. He did his own thing. That's the thing that makes me tick." Lambert then revealed how he learned of MJ's untimely passing, "We were in rehearsals, actually I kept singing and I pulled away from the mic and I said, 'What's going on?' We all just stopped."
American Idol winner David Cook, discussed his cover of MJ's 'Billie Jean' which helped catapult him to success on the hit reality show. "I actually borrowed it from Chris Cornell and, being on the show, you want to do songs people know — and who doesn't know Michael Jackson? It's incredible to be here to honor Michael Jackson."
